The Department of Civil Engineering was established since the inception of the college in 1957 and has grown into a full fledged department with specializations in all the major areas of Civil Engineering. The department works on the theme area of “Eco Friendly Structures”. The department has taken up various sponsored research programmes apart from regular teachings and the research activities, namely TNSCST, TNPCB, ,MHRD, PWD ,SERC, UGC, DST, AICTE & DHAN foundation. It has created collaboration with industries to work for the various tasks given by Govt., semi-govt. and other private organizations. The department offers programmes at undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels.
The vision of the department is to establish process of learning to meet the global standards for sustainable built environment. Many of our alumni hold prestigious positions in leading academic institutions, industries and government organizations in all over the world. Civil Engineering Department has won AICTE-CII Best Industry linked institution award in 2015-2016.

B.E Civil Engineering
A Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Civil Engineering focuses on designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure such as Buildings, Highways, bridges, Harbors and Ports, and buildings etc., It covers subjects like structural analysis and design, Transportation Engineering, geotechnical engineering, Fluid mechanics and Hydraulics Engineering, Irrigation Engineering and environmental systems etc., The program equips students with technical skills for problem-solving and project management.
M.E Structural Engineering
Structural engineering is a branch of civil engineering that focuses on designing and analyzing structures to ensure they are safe, stable, and durable. It involves understanding the behavior of materials under various loads and conditions. Structural engineers work on buildings, bridges, dams, and other infrastructures. The goal of structural engineer is to create efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions while ensuring public safety.
M.E Construction Engineering and Management.
Construction Engineering and Management is a field that combines engineering principles with project management to oversee the planning, design, and execution of construction projects. It focuses on cost control, scheduling, quality assurance, and safety management. Professionals in this field ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
