About 'Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT':
'Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT', with the approval of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, was initiated in 2014 with an objective to enhance no. of PhDs in the country (Budget: Rs. 466 Cr).
PhD seats were allocated to 97 institutions (IITs, NITs, Central & State Universities etc.) in 25 states and 4 Union Territories. Now, 2nd phase of the scheme has been launched with budget of Rs. 481.93 Crores for 9 years targeting:
- 1000 Full Time PhD Candidates.
- 150 Part Time PhD Candidates.
- 50 awardees of Young Faculty Research Fellowship.
- 225 awardees of Post-Doctoral Fellowship.

Aim of the Scheme:
The “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme” aims to enhance the number of Ph.D. scholars in Information Technology (IT)/Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sectors and build strong research infrastructure in academic institutions.
Target Sectors:
IT/ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) and ESDM (Electronic Design and Manufacturing)
Research Domains:
Emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Quantum Computing, Wireless Networks, Smart Grid, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Drives, Machines, Renewable Integration, Micro-grids, Communications, Semiconductor, Antennas, VLSI Design, Image Processing, Signal Processing, Electromagnetics, RF & Microwaves, EV Interfacing, Cyber Security, Internet of Things, Robotics

Funding Support:
Total Amount allocated: Rs.75 Lakhs for 2 Full Time and 1 Part Time Ph.D Candidate
Grant for Part Time Ph.D: Fellowship @ Rs. 3 Lakhs on Ph.D. completion
Grant for Full Time PhD: (Rs.72,61,600 for 2 Candidates)

- Approved research domains of Electronic Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), MeitY.

- Receiving the Applications (Applicant should select the GUIDE from TCE alone)
- Intimation to the eligible candidates for test and interview
- Verification of Certificates, Test, and Interview
- Announcement of the Eligible Candidates
- Approval (Centre for Research - Anna University, Affiliating University and Visveswaraya PhD cell, MeitY)
- Enrolment at Centre for Research - Anna University and TCE
