VISUAL ARTS -A TOOL OF CREATIVITY

COURSE OBJECTIVE

This course aims to integrate Visual Arts as a Fundamental Element in Engineering Education to Cultivate Divergent Thinking, Enhance Creativity, and Foster Critical Self-Expression among Students. Additionally, it encourages collaborative teamwork, inspiring students to cultivate enhanced creativity, explore diverse possibilities, and embrace inclusivity. As a result, this course aims to refine their observational abilities, directing them towards fostering creative productivity.

COURSE DURATION: 4 Weeks

By the conclusion of this course, participants will be proficient in:

  1. Appreciating the potency of art as a means of creation.
  2. Utilizing references and comparisons to drive evolutionary discipline.
  3. Innovatively experimenting with novel concepts and approaches.
  4. Demonstrating the application of visual arts principles within Engineering Design contexts.

Module 1: Introduction to Visual Arts as a Catalyst for Creativity:

  • Exploring the Relationship between Visual Arts and Creativity
  • Understanding the Evolution from STEM to STEAM
  • Productivity in Contrast to Creativity: Bridging the Gap
  • Tracing the Evolution of Engineering through Analogies: From Cart Wheels to Comprehensive Transportation Systems

Module 2: Navigating the Intersection of Productivity and Creativity:

  • Delving into the Essence of Creativity: Realism, Abstraction, and Aesthetics
  • Exploring Productivity Dynamics and Their Impact
  • Unveiling the Creativity of Early Civilizations: From Prehistoric Art to Monumental Structures like Stonehenge and Pyramids
  • Analyzing Masterpieces of Creativity: From Ancient Rock Art to Sculptures like the Descent of the Ganges and Pieta

Module 3: Contemporary Approaches to Creativity within Productivity Frameworks:

  • Unleashing Creative Sparks: From Concept to Materialization
  • Harnessing Various Mediums: From Traditional Sketching to IT Tools and Modeling Techniques
  • Nurturing Entrepreneurial Mindsets: Empowering Creativity for Practical Solutions

Module 4: Practical Application and Hands-On Assignments:

  • Engaging in Entrepreneurial Endeavours: Applying Artistic Skills to Design Practical Solutions
  • Hands-On Projects: Crafting Innovative Designs such as Bike Mirrors, Ceiling Fans, Interior Lamps, and Surveillance Systems
  • Translating Concepts into Reality: Building Scale Models and Prototypes to Showcase Creative Solutions, including Innovative Bike Silencers.
